Name: Christine Deckert
Role: From the Core™ Consultant

Where did you grow up?

I am a Northern Virginia kid but here in Pensacola, I just say I’m from Washington, DC. Until 4th grade, I lived in Herndon, VA. Then, I spent most of my formative years in Lorton and Arlington, VA.

What is your favorite thing about the community where you live?

I moved to Pensacola in 2015 because I wanted to build a very different lifestyle than what the heavy traffic and high cost of living in DC afforded me. Pensacola attracted me because it’s unique among coastal cities - it has a beautiful self-contained beach AND a vibrant downtown area with an identity that’s bigger than the beach. I was also looking for a place where I could apply my big-city experience and grow my own business within a unique niche. I quickly found that everyone I could possibly need to connect with was accessible, friendly and willing to help me get settled. I love that about our community.

What do you do at idgroup?

I am a From The Core Consultant with a heavy focus on research, communication strategy, facilitation and brand storytelling. In short, I help solve complex communications challenges that drive organizational growth and brand loyalty.

How long have you been with idgroup?

1 year.

What certain core values do you have in common with idgroup?

I am an intensely curious person whose passion and purpose is to unite communities through the stories they share. It’s wild how closely aligned my values are with idgroup’s values of reciprocal responsibility, appreciative world view, continuous learning and curiosity, collaboration, excellence, and solutions-focused. These are baked into my identity and definitely attracted me to the company.

What is your guiding principle / motto in life?

“Uniting communities through the stories they share” is the “why” behind my principles and actions. I believe everyone has a gift and helping people find, direct and unleash theirs keeps me focused on our collective impact.

What is your favorite hobby?

I love insightful conversations and uncovering interesting questions over coffee or a local craft beer. I also explore a variety of creative pursuits, like painting murals and playing music, but as a new mom, it’s harder to find time (and I adore spending time with my daughter).

Tell me about your daughter.

My daughter, Evie, is my whole heart. She is an adventurous 1 year old who loves making us laugh with her antics and sweet cuddles. She is a total book nerd and regularly shows us how remarkably brave she is in her gymnastics class (yes, BABY gymnastics. It’s amazing). My husband, Jon, and I absolutely love being her parents.

Are you involved in anything locally?

I have loved helping the creative community grow. I organized Emerald Coast Filmmakers to shine the spotlight on our local film and video production community, facilitating roundtable discussions, film challenges and hosting networking events. I was also involved in DesignXL’s planning committee, which successfully hosted Pensacola’s first design conference. I am also a Leadership Pensacola alumni and am currently exploring ways to stay involved with community initiatives.
